HCT Finish 2nd in Montreal

This thanksgiving Handball Club Toronto men’s team had a lot to be thankful for as they finished second at the Celtique Handball Clubs’s annual Thanksgiving Tournament held on Oct. 7 & 8 in Montreal.

Traditionally a very strong tournament, the squad knew they would be tested in each game. With a roster of many new faces, Toronto were ready for the fight. In their first match, they were quickly introduced to that strong level of play, taking on the hosts Celtique. In that first match the boys were humbled losing 20-11. Osbeth Bravo led all HCT scorers netting 5 goals.

Jumping into the second game of the day Toronto daughter redemption against Rosemont Handball. The team led in both halves with strong defensive play and got the history 16-11. Bravo led the team with five goals and Glen Parlay chipped in with three.

Moving onto the following day, the team was looking to get back into the positive, but had a tough Champion Handball Club in their way. However Toronto played another strong game, and tough had onto a narrow 17-15 win.

That put the team at two wins and one loss. This final game would decide if they finish second in the standings. Their final opponent was Celtique 2 featuring many young and athletic players. Despite the back-and-forth tight game, Toronto prevailed with a 18-17 win. There was a balanced attach with three players scoring three goals each including Alexis Renaud, Arvin Tadjaaikish, and Volodymyr Kobezskyi.

That win sealed a silver medal for the team in their first tournament of the new indoor season. Congrats to the team and coaches for a great tournament and we hope to continue that positive momentum throughout the season.
